Minutes Of the S.A.A.C meeting Held on November 1, 2006 In Attendance: Debbie, Doug, Amara,Jared, Jacylyn, Cory, Constance, Brian, Joe, Mark, Monte, Chef Parker Meeting called to order by Doug Overes at 7:05pm Seconded by Mark President’s Report: Corporate welcome letter was handed out to Brian and Monte. We hope to see you both at the following meetings. The national office is asking that we elect someone from our association to represent our juniors. If anyone would be interested in this position please see Doug. Anyone wanting information on competitions please see Doug for information. We are offering advertising space on our website for corporate sponsors. The price is $50.00 per year. Broxburn Vegetables has already paid for the next year. Thank you and welcome. Anyone interested in helping Doug with the Compulsory Occupational Designation please see him. Three Forks Gourmet is a high end food distributor that is trying to expand into the west. Anyone wanting information please see Doug. Anyone interested in the Hong Kong Chefs Association please feel free to see Doug. There will be an Alberta CCF Branches retreat in Banff Feb 3-5, 2006. This will be n opportunity for the branches to brainstorm ideas with each other. Edmonton branch newsletter is now in circulation, please see Doug if wanting to see. The national newsletter is at your disposal when wanted please see national website. Anyone who would like to nominate someone for the Chef of the year or the Sandy Sanderson award are asked to submit their nominations to the western vice president. Culinary Tam Alberta is only 3 weeks away from Luxenburg. Good luck to them. Doug brought in samples from the Grand Marnier house. We had all 5 kinds that we will be using at the dessert challenge to try. What a lovely product sample. Doug has received some job opportunities, please see him for more information. Vice Presidents Report: Nothing to report. Secretaries Report: Updated information our members. Treasurer’s Report: Presently working on getting prepared for the audit. Financial picture is looking great. We donated a set of knives and plaque to the LCC for award ceremony for apprentices and Matt Evans was the winner. Congratulations. Medals and ribbons are being ordered for the hot salons for LCC. Please remember yearly dues need to be made by end of December. Education Director’s Report: Asking that Sysco please let us know about the recipe challenge this year as last year there was some kind of miscommunication. We would like to participate this year. The Skills Canada in 2008 is approaching fast. Anyone interested in participating should speak to one of the college chefs so they can start preparing. There will be an advisory committee meeting at the college on Monday evening, November 6, 2006. Motion put forth for association to pay for tab by Chef Parker, seconded by Doug. All accept. Old News: The Grand Marnier Dessert Challenge is a go We have Child find on board as our sponsor and the Lethbridge Lodge as the venue.
