Minutes Of the S.A.A.C meeting Held on December 4, 2006 In Attendance: Debbie, Doug, Karl, Amara, Cory, Brian, Chef Parker, Andy, Jeff, James, Rob Meeting called to order by Doug Overes at 7:05pm Seconded by Debbie President’s Report: Team Alberta won gold in both categories but took 4th in the world. Anyone wanting to see more information please see website. We would like to welcome James Jackson to our branch. We look forward to seeing you at the coming meetings. Anyone wanting information on competitions please see Doug for information. Anyone interested in helping Doug with the Compulsory Occupational Designation please see him. Lynn Johnson is applying for the standard 2 to 7 year for recognition. Amara has been elected as our liason for the junior membership with the National office. Teenie will be her backup. Anyone who would like to nominate someone for the Chef of the year or the Sandy Sanderson award are asked to submit their nominations to the western vice president. Anyone interested in becoming the chair for the Bocuse d’or should see Doug for the application. Please go and check out the new National website it looks terrific. The Grand Marnier Dessert challenge is going along great. We have received a cheque from Bridgebrand for a $1000.00 to so with as we see fit. A lot of the materials needed to make this fundraiser a go have graciously been donated from some of the following company’s: Canadian linen, Antons and Dejordans photography. If anyone wanting to see Greeting from Western VP please see Doug. Chef of the year competition will be at the Western regional conference and we have a new category called Member of the Year. Anyone with nominations please pass them along to Doug. Any incoming mail, if you would like to read it please see Doug or Debbie. Vice Presidents Report: Nothing to report. Secretaries Report: Updating information on our members. Treasurer’s Report: Audit has been prepared and sent away for the last 2 years. Financial picture is looking great. A motion was made by Rob to wave the first years locals fees included in the national fees for new members. Second by Cory, all in favour, motion passed. Please remember yearly dues need to be made by end of December. Education Director’s Report: Wine festival went smoothly. Students did a wonderful job again this year. The preemployment program talked about may be made available in the summer of 2007. Watts program doing really well. Old News: Feb 3-5, 2007 is a retreat in Banff for the branches in Alberta to get together before the Western regional conference. Grand Marnier Dessert Challenge tickets will be going on sale by end of February 2007. Meeting adjourned at 7:30pm by Doug second by Cory.
