Minutes Of the S.A.A.C meeting Held on February 5, 2007 In Attendance: Debbie, Doug, Amara, Constance, Sara, Joe, Andy Meeting called to order by Doug at 7:16pm Seconded by Debbie President’s Report: National conference is scheduled for May 31 to June 3 in Toronto. No new members this month but payments are coming in good. The Banff retreat went well. Sunday night was a formal dinner made by Team AB. Saturday went to Calgary meeting and had guest speaker: Food writer for Calgary paper ad she gave a talk about a chefs responsibility to the environment. Talk was really well received. Anyone wanting information on Bocuse d’Or or Coupe du Monde please see National website. Western regional conference Feb 23 to 25 at the Westin Hotel in Calgary. Teenie is going to try out for the Knorr competition and Amara is trying out for the Canadian Nordic Juniors. Brad Horrin will be the nominee for the outstanding chef of the year. We have put together a letter for Jan Rudic and paid our fee of $50.00 for the Western conference. BBQ TV show casting call. Junior’s Report: No news yet on the Canadian Nordic Chefs cook off. Vice Presidents Report: Still waiting on information for the Sysco recipe contest. Secretaries Report: Anyone hear about the Calgary Health region trying to make all restaurants comply with no trans fat in their restaurants. Treasurer’s Report: Medals have been bought for this year. Education Director’s Report: Skills competition: we have 2 students competing. Old News: Tobasco competition: Doug could not find any information on this to share. Grand Marneir Dessert challenge is April 19 , 2007 at the Lethbridge lodge in the Anton banquet room.
