Minutes Of the S.A.A.C meeting Held on March 7, 2007 In Attendance: Debbie, Doug, Amara, Brian, Jarod, Mark, Cory, Curtis, Jacquie Meeting called to order by Doug at 7:16pm Seconded by Debbie President’s Report: National conference is scheduled for May 31 to June 3 in Toronto. Motion to accept Gregory Moody as new junior member, all in favour. Newfoundland is already complying with the Occupational Designation. We other provinces are trying to get thru the government red tape. Any apprentice interested in receiving tax credit for knives purchased, please get forms from Doug. Any employer interested in getting tax credit for hiring apprentices please get form from Doug. Knorr has extended there competition because only 2 candidates applied. Outstanding member of the year was Mark Davie our National Vice President. Congratulations to you Mark. Great Job. Western region chef of the year was Brad Horan. He will now compete at the National conference for the title of Chef of the Year. Team Canada has put out a letter about themselves, looking for possible candidates for future years. If you would like to see this, please see Doug. International chef day is October 20 and we will be trying to raise money for a charity. Our idea is maybe a chilli cookoff with a knife sharpening compenent. Please start thinking about this now and you will be asked for your help when the time comes nearer. We are planning on doing a bottle drive to raise money for ourselves. Doug will be contacting you to come out and help. We may also be planning a trip to Spruce Meadows and Willow Park. More information to come. We have nominated Avald Lacote for Life membership. Motion to accept brought by Doug, seconded by Jarod, all in favour. We will pass by executive as well before officially putting his name forth. Anyone wanting information on Bocuse d’Or or Coupe du Monde please see National website. Junior’s Report: Amara has all information between her and Junior president, please see her if want anything. I won a $500.00 scholarship at Western Conference. Amara did not get selected for Nordic but is going to be helping Team Canada so she will still be busy. Vice Presidents Report: Two applicants applied from LCC for the Sysco recipe competition. Secretaries Report: We have a new Web master, his name is Kirk Jones. We are compiling a mission statement for the CCFCC. It states our beliefs and values. Treasurer’s Report: Chef Rob has decided to step down as treasurer. He is taking a sabbatical from the college to finish his Masters in Environmental Sceinces. He will be done at the end of the May. Doug asked me, Debbie Clauss, to take over the position and I accepted. Motion was put forward to accept this by Doug, Cory second, all in favour. Curtis Vollman then stepped forward to take over the position of secretary. Doug put forward a motion to accept, Jarod second, all in favour. With Debbie taking this new position a motion was put forward by Doug to have the names changed for signing authority t the bank from Rob to Debbie, and Joe Henke removed as signor. Seconded by Curtis, all in favour. Accounting records are open for anyone to see. Education Director’s Report: Skills competition: we have 2 students competing. Old News: Grand Marneir Dessert challenge is April 19 , 2007 at the Lethbridge lodge in the Anton banquet room. Tickets will be $60.00 per person and will go on sale in March. Future Western Regional conferences: Lethbridge would be interested in hosting the 2011. Please see Doug if interested in helping out. Meeting adjourned at 8:30pm by Doug second by Cory.
