Minutes Of the S.A.A.C meeting Held on October 01, 2007 In Attendance: Adam, Jeff, Curtis, Debbie, Doug, Jeremy, Greg, Amara, Elizabeth, Jacquie, Rob, Jarod, Julie Smith Meeting called to order by Doug at 7:10pm Seconded by Debbie President’s Report: Cheemo Perogy supporter of International Chefs Day October 20th/07 but dew to time constraints we have decided to do a bottle drive instead to raise money Spoke about new Executive Positions Debbie as Treasurer, Jarod as Vice President and Curtis as Secretary. Spoke about starting a fund raising account so that we are not dipping into other accounts. Talked about up coming Tapas venue at the Lethbridge Lodge 60 people/$100 a ticket, Lodge responsible for all legistics. In attendance Doug, Jarod, Curtis, Debbie and Amara to help plate. 4 flights of tapas matched with 2 wines and sorbet in between flights. 50% of sales to comes to SAAC. Email Doug for more information. Chili give away/donation 50/50 donation to food bank and SAAC. Need 3 dates to be filled for venus, look for changes on website to agenda dates and places. Amara and Jacqlin are contacts. No new news to report. Amara to do presentation at next meeting of National Conference. Competitions to come are Knorr, Skills Canada, and Hot Salon, Doug for more info. Scholarship for Western Region is up for grabs if you want to apply Doug or Curtis has form. Zach Aspen 3rd year apprentice has applied for junior membership, Mike Wilson Ric’s Grill has applied for full membership brought forth by Doug seconded by Greg all approved. Lets Pasta, Broxburn, and Chef Hats need to pay for advertisement on web site for next year. Next agenda put on talk about increase to website Advertisement price. Calgary Chef of the year is Executive Chef Brad Horn. He goes to WACS in Orlando, Florida 2nd in hemisphere congrats to him from all of us. Doug is looking for volunteer to take over CCFCC Compulsory Occupational Designation from him to continue the fight. Bring up at next meeting. Roy Butterworth See Doug he can email with you. Anyone with old Pictures from conferences give to Doug New Keys to Doug and Jarrod costs are the same. Doug is going for it again with Culinary Team Alberta in Germany. Adam tried and he may go to Germany as well. Retreat in Banff. Begins Feb. sometime. 100 mile cuisine where all your food comes from within a 100 mile radius of your establishment. Incoming mail passed around by Doug if anyone wanted something take it from him. Debbie has taken over the treasurer postion from Rob. Anyone needing to see the bylaws and ethics see Debbie Perfect Edge invoice handed to Debbie but has been paid. Chris Boese LCC now Lethbridge College. Rob’s sabbatical as of January, and there is 2 classes of 3rd years again. If anyone is looking for a job talk to Chef Doug he has a list. Meeting adjourned at 8:30pm by Doug second by Rob.
