Minutes Of the S.A.A.C meeting Held on January 9, 2008 In Attendance: Debbie, Doug, Amara, Jarrod, Adam, Rob, Stephanie, Charles, Gregory Meeting called to order by Doug at 7:15pm Seconded by Debbie President’s Report: Chegue will need to be sent to Lethbrige College for cheese tasting. Invoice given to Treasurer. As well money collected given to treasurer. We receied a letter from the Lethbridge college food bank thanking us for the donation from our bottle drive. Motion to accept all new members was by Doug was 2nd by Jarrod, all in favour. Doug sent his regrets that he is just not able to be Chef o the year this year. He has already a full plate. Our western conference is coming up in February. Noone will probably be attending from our branch because of timing and funds. Motion was put forward by Doug to send in the application for the casino fundraising. 2nd by Debbie, all in favour. Doug has rewrote our bylaws and will now have them posted on our website for 30 days for the membership to look at. If after 30 days no one has made any comments or corrections then these bylaws will become accepted. If anyone wants to read the National administrator newsletter please see Doug. We will be sending one junior member for sure to the National conference in Montreal. Culinary team Alberta is still practicing and will have a practice this weekend. Some scheduling conflicts have been arising but are working them out as they come up. Our May 7 meeting will now be at Crazy cakes. Crazy cakes and perfect edge will be advertising on our website. Treasurer will be sending out invoices to them soon. Our National CCI chair will be stepping down. His replacement will do a great job. If wanting to read the letter please see Doug. Doug has written a report from our branch for the western conference. If anyone is interested in reading it please see Doug. Jarrod will be trying to put together a chilli cookoff fundraiser in February. It was also brought up that more bottle drives should be done to raise money. Doug put a motion forward to destroy all records before the year 2001. This was 2nd by Jarrod, all in favour. Any one interested in seeing any incoming mail please see Doug. Junior’s Report: Amara has all information between her and Junior president, please see her if want anything. Amara has compiled a list of the top 10 items apprentices would like to get instead of the knife gifts. Vice Presidents Report: No report given Secretaries Report: No report given Treasurer’s Report: Accounting records are open for anyone to see. Please get the embership dues paid by January 31, 2008. Anyone interested in seeing the national financials please come and see me. The previous treasurer and I are working on the audits for 2006. Should be done by end of January. Education Director’s Report: The Lethbridge college will be sending all apprentices to the world skills in Calgary. Charles has been asked to try out for the World culinary Olympics. He is still considering. Old News: Still working on compulsory designation. If anyone is interested in life insurance thru the national please see Doug. Chef Allan has been awarded top instructor for Alberta. He will receive this in Edmonton on February 8. In may of 2008, Amara goes to be a full national member therefore she will be stepping down as our junior president and Jacyln will be taking her place.
